Ndejje university receives a boost from Mandela national stadium board.

Ndejje University received a most needed boost when Mandela National Stadium Board offered donations of sports equipment worth millions of shillings in support of the17thAssociation of Uganda Universities Sports (AUUS) games. Among the equipment donated included; assortment of athletics equipment like javelin, starting blocks, high jump mattresses, hurdles among others.

 

Mr. Jamil Sewanyana of Mandela National Stadium Board team after inspected the renovations of the sports facilities at the university’s main campus, said that the board was pleased with the university preparations for the games.  He reiterated the decision by the Board to offer Ndejje University the tartan from Mandela National Stadium after it is removed from the stadium following a two-year technical development protocol signed between Uganda and China which will see the stadium receive a new tartan.

In appreciation of the donations from the Mandela National Stadium Board, Ndejje University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo thanked the Board for recognizing the university’s tremendous contribution to national and international sports development.“We are a powerhouse and nursery bed to most national teams. We are visible in the whole world. We have achieved a lot at regional, continental and world championships” said Prof. Lugujjo.  He further said that the university was involved in community sports outreach programmes and that the government should refocus its priorities by appreciating and supporting institutions making huge sports investments because such facilities help in community and national development.

Ndejje University will host the Inter University Games from 15th to 21st December 2017.  This will be the third time Ndejje University will be hosting this event the first was in 2005.
