Wins maiden KAVC International

Elites wins its maiden KAVC International

Ndejje University’s Elites has thumped Nkumba 3-1 to lift the women’s 22nd edition of the Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) International Volleyball Tournament. The university side popularly known as the Elites also returned to its Luwero-based Univerity Main Campus with pockets smiling thanks to the winner’s $1000 award.

The newly crowned champions dethroned Rwanda Revenue Authority who won the women title last year. The three-day tournament that ran from August 3-5 attracted teams from Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan. Beating Nkumba in this tournament was a high motivation for the Elites particularly that the Entebbe-based side has been a big thorn to its advancement in the 2018 National League.

They have fallen prey to Nkumba all engagements this season. The Elites winning the KAVC tourney inevitably makes the ladies even hungrier to end the one-year drought of the national title as the National League enters the second round. The international tournament has grown since its 1995 inception attracting over the years a number of East Africa’s best teams.
