Vice Chancellor unveils Ndejje University Lions FC

The Ndejje University Vice Chancellor has underscored the ambassadorial role the university premier soccer club plays on the national and international scene. Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo echoed the voice during the official launch of the club to Uganda’s Premier League (Oct. 3, 2018) organized at Ndejje University Luwero Main Campus.
The Ndejje University soccer club popularly known as the Lions stormed the Super Division Soccer League this year after 16-years of relentless qualification campaign. “You are now our ambassadors wherever you will be. Protect Ndejje University’s image. I implore you to be very disciplined, humble and respect your opponents, officials and spectators both on and off the pitch,” said Prof. Lugujjo who also doubles as Club patron.

He advised the players to remain confident, assertive, avoid intimidation by the opponents and over reaction in face of pressure or criticism. “Avoid despair in face of unfavourable result situations. Develop a fighting spirit until the end. Its not all over until the last whistle,” he told the team five hours ahead of their second Super League engagement against Mbarara City FC. Ndejje University Lions FC narrowly lost 0-1 last week in its league opener away to Super League Champions Vipers FC. “I loved the fighting spirit you exhibited against Super League Champions Vipers. Conceding the lone goal in 93rd minute is a big indicator of the club’s future.” Prof Lugujjo said. Club President Paul Mark Kayongo elaborated the long hard journey from grass to grace since inception of the club in 1992.

“The university is determined to ensure that the club succeeds. Its on record that Ndejje is the pioneer university to play in the Super Division. Its time now for you to prove your worth playing in this premier League,” said Kayongo who was the university’s pioneer soccer team player.
