GIZ contracts University for research

Ndejje University has struck a deal to research for alternative water pump energy for the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) project.
The university has agreed to take on a six-month research project starting March 2019 aimed at enabling NWSC construction of 1000 boreholes in Luwero, Wobulenzi and Nakaseke districts. Ndejje University, GIZ and Delft University of Technology finalized recently held talks at the University Luwero Main Campus.

Ndejje University was represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Fredrick Kakembo and on part of the partners by GIZ Technical Energy Advisor, Dr Veit, Director of International Relations Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and Gaub Lothar.
A draft Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the development partners is however due for presentation before December 20, 2018, according to the just concluded talks

NWSC has contracted GIZ and Partner Group (Netherlands) to research for alternative energy to pump water. Dr. Kakembo hailed GIZ and the Partner Group for considering Ndejje University to lead in the in research for alternative energy to pump water in the country.
“The university was approached and accepted to be part of this research for the pilot sites in Luwero, Wobulenzi and Nakaseke. Water and IT experts and research assistants will however be needed to design software simulation and collect data about the alternate energy efficiency.

“There will also be exchange of six students from NDU and Germany University as part of the research project,” Deputy Vice Chancellor said after the meeting the partners. The Ugandan and German Governments through its GIZ agency has had a long time development cooperation dating back to 1964, two years after the East African State got its independence.
The cooperation focus on three main priority areas in Renewable energies and energy efficiency, rural development and food security, water and sanitation . The particular areas include setting up measures towards water resources management, water for production and water supply
