Guild Polls kick off


Nominations for the Ndejje University Guild Presidency and chairpersons aspirants kicked off this morning with nine candidates in contention for various offices
.
The candidates presented their applications and returned the nomination forms to the Polls Electoral Commission (EC) within the stipulated deadline of March 12-15, 2019.. The one-day nomination however exercise kicks off with pomp as candidates assemble their entourage to witness the historic moment ahead of their official campaigns.

The Electoral Commission boss, Mwengyera Stuart said this morning that they have already issued a road map for the Guild elections running from March 11 to April 26.
The programme started with dissolving the outgoing Guild government which paves way for the polls campaign for the Guild Presidency, speaker and Deputy Speaker set for April 13 to April 17, 2019. He said the voters will in the process also elect Guild Representative Councilors (GRCs) The EC boss said after the nominations the programme will be followed by the Presidential Debate to be telecast live on Urban TV on March 22 and later by open campaigns at both Kampala and Main campus. He however pledged the EC to deliver a free and fair elections devoid of rigging and chaos.

“The EC is prepared to do what it takes to conduct a well organized elections. Detractors will not be entertained. We warn whoever is planning to disorganize the exercise that we have put in place tight security to handle the situation,” Mwengyera said. He cautioned students about the eligibility in the voting exercise which include presentation of a current semester Registration Card, University ID and Residential Card.
