Faculty of Social Sciences

Social Sciences is a forward-thinking faculty offering opportunities for educational, cultural and skills development. We offer an environment in which students are challenged to extend and enhance themselves intellectually, professionally and creatively, and we strive to prepare our students for the demands of the future – both nationally and internationally.

Since its establishment, the faculty of Social Sciences has developed its own unique form of programs embedded in instruction, research, community outreach, and production, through which the students are exposed to the opportunities that deepen their understanding of the ways in which they can effectively contribute to national and international development.

The faculty of Social Sciences houses two departments that include the Department of Development and Social studies comprising of five programs; B.A Guidance and Counselling, BA Community Based Development, BA Development Studies, BA Social Work and Social Administration and BA Social Gerontology and Welfare Studies. The department of Journalism and Public Affairs houses courses in BA Journalism and Mass Communication, BA Public Administration and BA Leadership and Human development.

Research and education

Research and research-based education are core values of the Faculty. High quality research and education has always been the Faculty’s primary objective, and the Faculty’s researchers are strongly encouraged to contribute actively to the public debate. The Faculty strives to keep its doors open to other fields of study and research as well, and the departments take part in several cross-faculty projects.
