Yesterday’s session, led by Pastor Isaac Ssenyonjjo, was no different, offering profound insights drawn from the words of Jesus in John 15:16: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

Theme: Bearing Fruit That Lasts

The message centered on the theme of being fruitful—producing good and helpful results in our lives that reflect God’s purpose. Pastor Ssenyonjjo reminded everyone that we are all created in the image of God, uniquely designed to bear fruit in various ways. But what does it mean to bear fruit, and how can we accomplish this?

Remaining Connected to the Vine

Using the analogy from John 15:5-6, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing,” Pastor Ssenyonjjo emphasized the importance of remaining connected to God. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains attached to the vine, we too must maintain a close relationship with God to bear fruit. Without this connection, we risk becoming like withered branches, eventually discarded.

Practical Steps to Bearing Fruit

The session provided practical guidance on how to bear fruit in our daily lives:

Communication with God: Spending quality time in prayer and reflection is crucial. This ongoing communication nurtures our spiritual growth and keeps us aligned with God’s will.

Identifying Talents and Purpose: Each of us has been gifted with talents, but to truly bear fruit, we must discover our purpose and how our talents can be used to serve that purpose. This requires introspection and a willingness to serve the Lord in whatever capacity we are called.

Determination and Faith: The journey of bearing fruit is not without challenges. However, with determination and faith, trusting that God knows how He will work things out, we can overcome obstacles and fulfill our purpose.

A Call to Serve and Be Fruitful

The session concluded with a call to action: to serve the Lord with all our hearts, to be determined in our pursuits, and to trust in God’s plan for our lives. The assurance was given that as we remain connected to God, we will bear fruit—fruit that will last.

Pastor Isaac Ssenyonjo

Community Hour at Ndejje University continues to be a time of spiritual renewal and a reminder that we are all chosen and appointed to bear fruit in the world. As we move forward, let us strive to produce results that not only benefit ourselves but also glorify God and positively impact those around us.

Date: 21st August 2024, 12:00 PM At Ndejje University, the weekly Community Hour has become a cherished moment for students and staff to come together, reflect on spiritual matters, and grow in their faith.
