Ndejje University once again demonstrated its dominance in university sports by winning the overall trophy at the 2024 Eastern Africa University Games (EAU Games)<\/strong>, held at Maseno University, Kenya. The event, which concluded on 20th December 2024<\/strong>, saw Ndejje emerge as the champion for the 8th time in history<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university secured a total of 98 medals<\/strong>, comprising 34 gold<\/strong>, 35 silver<\/strong>, and 29 bronze<\/strong>, surpassing all other participating institutions. This outstanding performance reaffirmed Ndejje University’s position as a leader in sports within the Eastern Africa region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overcoming Challenges Abroad<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Although the medal tally was slightly lower than the 129 medals<\/strong> (59 gold) achieved during the 2022 edition hosted at Ndejje, the university maintained its winning streak. A university sports official attributed the decline to logistical and budgetary constraints:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrue, our medal tally declined compared to that of 2022 when we hosted, but this is because we traveled to another country where we have a budget limit. As hosts, we had the luxury to register athletes in almost every sport.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Despite these challenges, Ndejje\u2019s athletes delivered stellar performances, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a highly competitive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continued Regional Leadership<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This victory marked yet another milestone in Ndejje University’s long-standing commitment to sports excellence. The university\u2019s well-structured sports programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and dedicated coaching staff have played a key role in its sustained success at the EAU Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivals\u2019 Achievements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kenya’s United States International University in Africa (USIU-A)<\/strong> finished second with 17 gold medals<\/strong>, while Uganda Christian University (UCU)<\/strong> came third with 15 gold medals<\/strong>, marking their best performance in the history of the games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCU\u2019s sports official, Samuel Lukaire<\/strong>, attributed their success to increased participation and better preparation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cWe managed to have a contingent of 170 people and featured in disciplines we hadn\u2019t participated in before. Collecting 15 gold medals is a big step forward compared to 2022, and we\u2019ll build on this going forward.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
