On 29th<\/sup> January 2025, The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Survey, Eng. Dr. Henry K. Ntale<\/strong> represented Ndejje University in a crucial discussion on the proposed Engineers Professional Bill 2024<\/strong>. The engagement brought together Engineering academia and industry stakeholders to contribute towards shaping the future of engineering practice in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary objective of the Engineers Professional Bill 2024<\/a><\/strong> is to establish the Uganda Institution of Engineering Professionals (UIEP)<\/strong>, define its objectives, membership, and governance, and create the Engineering Professionals Board (EPB)<\/strong> to oversee the registration and licensing of engineers, technologists, and technicians. Additionally, the bill seeks to repeal the Engineers Registration Act, Cap 271<\/strong>, aligning professional regulations with global best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing the Faculty of Engineering and Survey\u2019s vital role in training past, present, and future engineering professionals, Ndejje University remains committed to engaging in policy discussions that shape the sector. It was, therefore, an honour for\u00a0Dean Ntale<\/strong>, to join a delegation from Makerere University College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology (CEDAT)<\/strong>\u2014led by\u00a0Assoc. Professor Dorothy Okello\u00a0<\/strong>(Dean of School of Engineering, CEDAT)\u2014to present perspectives from the Engineering Academia on the bill to the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ndejje University continues to champion academic excellence, research, and impactful community engagement through active participation in national development. We look forward to further contributions towards engineering policy and practice in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
