The <strong>AI Research Center<\/strong>, located within the <strong>Faculty of Science and Computing<\/strong>, is leading the exhibition with several cutting-edge projects aimed at addressing pressing challenges in <strong>education, public health, and student engagement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The University\u2019s team at the event includes key experts from the AI Research Center:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mr. Alex Luyima<\/strong> (Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Computing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mr. Herbert Bukoli<\/strong> (Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Computing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mr. Twaha Kateete<\/strong> (Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Computing)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, they are presenting innovative solutions that harness <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> to improve societal wellbeing, particularly in <strong>education and public health<\/strong>. NDU Lesson Plan Generator: AI for Educators<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Education is at the heart of Ndejje University\u2019s innovation agenda, and the <strong>NDU Lesson Plan Generator<\/strong> is a testament to this commitment. This <strong>AI-powered tool<\/strong> is designed to assist educators in developing well-structured, <strong>curriculum-aligned lesson plans<\/strong> efficiently. WASHtsApp: Your WhatsApp Assistant for Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing public health remains a critical priority for Ndejje University. <strong>WASHtsApp<\/strong> is a <strong>WhatsApp-based chatbot<\/strong> designed to provide <strong>instant, reliable information<\/strong> on clean water usage, sanitation, and hygiene. This tool helps both urban and rural communities in Uganda access crucial health tips, thereby promoting better sanitation and hygiene practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users simply need to save <strong>+256 760 299775<\/strong> on their phone and start a conversation on WhatsApp to receive tailored, expert-reviewed information in text or voice format. WASHtsApp\u2019s ease of access through the widely used messaging app ensures that even remote communities can benefit from valuable health information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project aims to improve overall community health by spreading awareness on water purification, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices. Through continuous development, WASHtsApp plans to expand its services, offering more local languages and region-specific health information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. ATTENTION SPAN DETECTOR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A tool that \u201cuses artificial intelligence to assess attention in lecture room settings Amidst Digital Distraction.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the era of digital learning, keeping students engaged\u2014especially in large classroom settings\u2014has become a significant challenge. The <strong>Learner Attention Tracker<\/strong> is an <strong>AI-powered tool<\/strong> that monitors students&#8217; attention levels in both physical and online classroom environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed by <strong>Mr. Herbert Bukoli<\/strong>, a <strong>PhD candidate<\/strong> and lecturer at the <strong>AI Research Center<\/strong>, this system analyzes students&#8217; engagement patterns during lectures. It helps instructors identify when students are distracted, allowing them to adjust teaching strategies in real time for improved learning outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tool aims to combat the growing problem of <strong>digital distractions<\/strong> in classrooms, enhancing the overall effectiveness of teaching and helping educators improve student performance.
