In celebration of Ndejje Week, Ndejje University conducted a meaningful school outreach at St. Mark’s College Namagoma. The outreach was led by the Deputy Chaplain, Rev. Juliet Kansiime, together with the MARI team.
Delivering her sermon at the beginning of the Lent season, Rev. Kansiime reminded the learners that Lent is a season of purpose and reflection. She emphasized that just as Jesus began His fasting journey in the desert with a clear mission, students too must define their mission in life. She noted that even Jesus, though God, sought God first. She further explained that the first temptation presented by Satan was food—something basic yet powerful—highlighting how even simple needs can become distractions.
She cautioned that fasting without prayer and reading God’s Word is merely a hunger strike. Students were encouraged not to misuse fasting as a way of holding God at ransom, but rather as a time to seek His will. Drawing from Ndejje University’s semester theme, “Greatness Through Servanthood” (Mark 10:43), she urged learners to flee from temptation, resist vanity, rely on God’s Word, and embrace simplicity and humility. She reminded them that God makes us great in order to fulfill His purpose, and that serving others with empathy and kindness costs nothing yet yields lasting impact.
Mr. Martin Ashaba, the Graduate School Administrator and a proud alumnus of Ndejje University, inspired the students by highlighting the benefits of joining the University. He shared insights about the wide range of academic programmes offered across various disciplines, including the state-of-the-art Medical School. He also encouraged teachers to enroll in the Administrative Law Certificate short course offered at the Faculty of Law.
Mukisa Elisha, a third-year Bachelor of Information Technology student, shared his memorable journey at Ndejje University. He spoke about his leadership experiences as Guild Minister for Religious Affairs and Chairman of the Christian Union Fellowship. He proudly mentioned his participation in the First AI Summit held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, which broadened his exposure and strengthened his academic outlook.
In her closing remarks, the School Director, Canon Alice Ddamulira, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Ndejje University team for turning up in large numbers and inspiring the students to strive for excellence, live purposefully, and pursue greatness grounded in service.
