    Ndejje University (NDU), a chartered, privately owned, Christian educational institution established in 1992, is owned by six Dioceses of the Church of Uganda (Anglican) in the Central Region of Uganda that are incorporated as Ndejje University Foundation Consortium. NDU is committed to providing Christian based high quality and innovative teaching, research and outreach services. Ndejje University is seeking to recruit a competent, highly motivated, innovative, visionary and committed individual to fill the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC AA). This is a senior position within the University’s Organisation structure. The DVC AA shall assist the Vice Chancellor to oversee and supervise all matters of the University concerning planning, administration and organization of all academic affairs including admission, undergraduate and post graduate studies, research, innovation and publications. The DVC AA shall hold office for a term of five (5) years that may be renewed for only one more term subject to conduct and performance.

     

    Qualifications:

    1.   The prospective candidate must;

    2.   Have a PhD from a recognized university or institution of higher learning.

    3.   Be at least at the rank of an Associate Professor in a higher institution of learning (added advantage).

    4.   Have at least ten (10) years of proven working experience in teaching and learning, research and innovation, community outreach, leadership and administration.

    5.   Have at least three (3) years of extensive knowledge and experience at the level of a Head of Department, Faculty Dean, Director or Principal or Deputy Director in a university/college and/or research institution.

    6.   Have been at least a member of a University Senate/Council or equivalent body in a reputable institution of higher learning.

    7.   Have demonstrable academic leadership through publication and research output.

    8.   Be a mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and Philosophy.

    9.   Have a demonstrable excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.

    10. Be between 45-60 years of age at the time of application.

    Job Description: 

    1.   Assist the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of her functions focusing on the Academic Affairs of the University.

    2.   In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor perform the functions of Vice-Chancellor.

    3.   Initiate, obtain approval of and promote policies, plans and programmes that enhance the academic and professional excellence of the University.

    4.   Oversee the development, implementation and review of the policy framework for monitoring the quality, standards and management of the University’s academic programmes.

    5.   Establish systems for the planning, development and review of undergraduate, postgraduate, research programmes and any other academic programmes of the University.

    6.   Oversee the selection, admission, and progress of students.

    7.   Initiate and coordinate the development and review of curricula for academic programmes offered at the University.

    8.   Monitor compliance in setting, administering, and grading all assessments in accordance with the established regulations.

    9.   Establish systems for students’ timely completion of academic programmes.

    10. Chair meetings of the Sub-committees of Senate: Admissions, Awards and Ceremonies; the Boards of Graduate Training, Research, and Innovation, Quality Assurance and any other committees that may be created by the University Council and assigned to the DVC AA.

    11. Promote partnerships and networking for academic growth and development in the University.

    12. Set performance targets, supervise, mentor, train and appraise all direct reports.

    13. Perform such other functions that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or the University Council.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Hanninton Mutebi, the assistant Bishop of Kampala Diocese became the University Chancellor on 17th December, 2021. He marks the 2nd bishop to assume the office of Chancellor since inception. He presides over all ceremonial assemblies of the university and confers degrees, diplomas, certificates, titles and distinctions of the University. Rev. Can. Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja (PhD (University of Edinburgh), MTh (University of Edinburgh), MA (Nottingham University), BD and Dip(ed) (Makerere University) became Vice Chancellor (VC) on the 1st January, 2023. She is the first woman to become the VC since inception of NDU, she is a Clergy in the Church of Uganda, where she has served for 29 years and also an Associate professor of the African Christianity.
As the VC, Prof. Nassaka works with the Consortium, the University Council, Deans, and Officers of the University to develop strategy and programs that enhance the University’s eminence among the top-ranked research universities in Uganda and the world; strengthen its position as a preferred destination for many of the world’s leading scholars and students; support the scholarship, education, and research that form the basis of the University’s mission; foster engagement and partnership with community, industry, and government; and uphold the traditions and values that are foundational to the culture NDU.

Dr. Frederick Kakembo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ndejje University is a professional administrator and researcher. Dr. Frederick Kakembo obtained a Bachelors degree in Arts with Education at Makerere University. He did graduate studies leading to Master of Education degree also at Makerere University. Dr. Frederick Kakembo did graduate studies and attained a PhD in Community Education & Training at University Of Pretoria, and a member of Brown University Alumni, USA. Dr. Frederick Kakembo the Deputy Vice Chancellor Ndejje University has served in different roles including; Reviewing the HIV/AIDS Toolkit for Higher Education Institutions in Africa and recommended appropriate online course delivery; Consultancy in a project entitled “Scaling up HIV prevention in Teso sub-region through a Civil Society Partnership with Primary and Secondary schools”; Initiated Partnership between Uganda Christian University (UCU) and Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC)

Can. Dr. Charles Kahigiriza, is the University Secretary and Secretary to Council at Ndejje University. Dr. Samuel Sekiziyivu

Dr. Samuel Sekiziyivu, BA.Soc(MAK), PGDE (MAK), MED-Lang Educ, PhD-Lang (MAK), is the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Ndejje University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (BA.Soc) from Makerere University (MAK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Makerere University, a Master of Education in Language Education (MED-Lang Educ), and a PhD in Language Studies (PhD-Lang) from the same institution.

Dr. Geoffrey Ssebabi Mutumba, PhD (Energy Economics and Governance) - (Makerere University), MA (Economic Policy and Planning) - (Makerere University), B.A Education (Economics & Geography) - (Makerere University), is the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Management at Ndejje University. Dr. Robert Setekera

Dr. Robert Setekera, BSC (MTH/PHY), MSC (Applied MTH), MSC (Industrial MTH), PDEng, Ph.D (Industrial and Applied Mathematics) TU Delft, Netherlands, is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Computing at Ndejje University. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics and Physics, a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Mathematics, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Mathematics. Additionally, he earned a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Applied Mathematics from TU Delft, Netherlands.
