Ndejje University yesterday held the official swearing-in ceremony of the 34th Guild Government for both Main and Kampala Campus. The event took place during Community Hour, led by the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Among those sworn in were Billy Katongole Asiimwe, Guild President for Main Campus, and Justine Nsiimire, Guild President for Kampala Campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Rev. Canon Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja, presided over the ceremony and delivered the day’s sermon, drawing from Philippians 2:3-5 and Mark 10:35ff. Her message centered on servant leadership as the foundation for student governance.
Addressing the incoming guild leaders, Prof. Banja urged them to model their leadership after Christ. “Serve without discrimination. Put students’ needs first,” she said. She cautioned against self-interest, reminding the new officials not to focus on personal gain from their positions, but rather on what they can do for the student body.
Referencing Mark 10:45, the Vice Chancellor emphasized sacrificial service. “Jesus gave His life as a ransom. In the same way, put your lives on the front line for students. Serve sacrificially. Serve selflessly.”
Prof. Banja stressed that effective leadership must be rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, citing John 15:5. She encouraged the new guild to live for Christ, noting that He would help them build a lasting, honorable legacy. “Choose to be honorable leaders,” she added.
The Vice Chancellor also addressed the outgoing guild government. “If you have gaps from your term of service, repent,” she said, drawing a parallel to King David in the Bible. The remark was a call to accountability and personal reflection.
She concluded by urging all leaders to commit their lives to God, submit to the virtues of Christ, and obey the Word of God. “Be servant leaders,” she charged.
The 34th Guild Government now begins its term with a clear mandate: to lead with integrity, sacrifice, and a heart for service to the Ndejje University student community.
