Ndejje University staff members took a vital step toward mental well-being today as they participated in a transformative mental health training session organized under the leadership of Dr. Primrose Nakazibwe. The training was facilitated by Mr. Derrick Kizza Mbuga, the Executive Director of Mental Health Uganda, a nationally recognized organization that advocates for the rights and well-being of individuals affected by mental health challenges.
Held at the University’s Kampala campus, the session aimed to build awareness, promote mental resilience, and equip staff with practical tools to manage stress, enhance emotional intelligence, and foster a healthier workplace culture.

In a spirit of collaboration and shared learning, a team from Mengo Senior Secondary School was invited to attend the training—and they honored the invitation by participating fully. Their presence enriched the session and highlighted the growing inter-institutional commitment to mental wellness.
Mr. Kizza, a respected advocate for mental health in Uganda, led the training with insight and empathy, covering key topics such as stress management, work-life balance, stigma around mental health, and the importance of seeking support early.
Dr. Nakazibwe, the force behind the initiative, emphasized the need to care for staff well-being. “Mental health is foundational to everything we do. When our staff are mentally strong, they are more effective, more present, and more fulfilled in their roles,” she remarked.
By the end of the session, participants felt empowered, enlightened, and better equipped to prioritize their mental well-being. The event reaffirmed Ndejje University’s commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and health-conscious work environment.
As conversations around mental health continue to gain ground in Uganda’s education sector, such initiatives serve as a timely and impactful response to the mental health needs of educators and administrators.
