As part of the Ndejje Sunday celebrations on 23rd February 2025, the Kavumba Archdeaconry was honored to host a dedicated team from Ndejje University. This visit was part of the university’s broader outreach to the six dioceses of the Church of Uganda that founded the institution, aiming to strengthen community ties and share the university’s mission.
Theme Scripture: Isaiah 54:14
Throughout the outreach, the teams preached a unified message based on Isaiah 54:14:
“In righteousness, you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.”
This scripture formed the heart of the sermons delivered across the churches, emphasizing God’s promise of peace, righteousness, and protection.

Purpose of Ndejje Week and Ndejje Sunday
As a Christian University, Ndejje University holds the Ndejje University Sunday as an annual event aimed at bringing the university closer to its congregations and communities within the six Church of Uganda (Anglican) dioceses.
The week preceding the special Sunday and the Ndejje University Sunday itself serve two major purposes:
- Disseminating Information – Sharing updates about the university’s achievements, new programs, and opportunities for prospective students.
- Fundraising for the Bursary Scheme – Mobilizing financial support through Sunday church collections to build a Bursary Scheme that supports education for children of Clergy and Lay Readers in these dioceses.
Initially, the bursary scheme focuses on supporting the children of clergy and lay readers, but the goal is to expand it to include vulnerable Christian children in the future.
Fundraising Achievements and Vision
The funds raised directly support the Bursary Scheme, and already, several children of clergy admitted to the 2024/2025 Academic Year have benefited. The university remains committed to expanding this initiative to support more students and strengthen its connection with the communities that form its foundation.
The visit to Kavumba Archdeaconry not only strengthened spiritual bonds but also emphasized the university’s commitment to education, community service, and faith. As Chancellor Rt. Rev. Dr. Hannington Mutebi highlighted during the celebrations:
“Education with Christian values is the key to transforming Uganda and beyond. We thank all who have supported Ndejje University, and we invite you to be part of our growing legacy.and beyond. We thank all who have supported Ndejje University, and we invite you to be part of our growing legacy.”
