Ndejje University is joining the rest of the global community to celebrate World Radio Day on 13th February 2025, under the theme “Radio and Climate Change.” This annual event highlights the vital role of radio in shaping public awareness, promoting dialogue, and addressing key societal challenges—this year, focusing on climate change.
As an institution committed to academic excellence and community engagement, Ndejje University recognizes radio as a powerful tool in advocating for climate action. Through various community-based interventions, the university has been at the forefront of promoting environmental sustainability, aligning its efforts with national climate change policies to create a more informed and proactive society.
Radio as a Catalyst for Climate Awareness
Radio remains one of the most accessible and influential platforms for disseminating crucial information about climate change. It serves as a bridge between policymakers, scientists, and the general public, ensuring that climate-related issues reach every corner of the nation, including rural communities that may have limited access to digital media. By amplifying such efforts, radio stations play an essential role in fostering climate-conscious behaviors and encouraging collective action toward a greener future.
We look forward to engaging discussions, knowledge-sharing, and celebrating the transformative power of radio in climate advocacy.
Honoring Excellence in Media
As part of World Radio Day 2025, Ndejje University will recognize outstanding students and alumni who have made remarkable contributions to the media industry. This year’s celebrations will feature a one-day media conference, hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts, Department of Journalism, bringing together leading media practitioners, faculty, and students to discuss the evolving role of journalism in shaping public discourse.
The event will feature:
✅ Panel Discussions – Expert journalists and media personalities will share insights on climate reporting and the power of radio in advocacy.
✅ Alumni Recognition – Honoring exceptional former students who have made significant strides in the media industry.
✅ Student Showcases – A platform for current journalism students to present their innovative projects and contributions to media.
✅ Networking Opportunities – A chance to connect with influential professionals and fellow media enthusiasts.
This initiative was first introduced in 2024 by Dr. Primrose Nakazibwe, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts, to celebrate the achievements of Ndejje University alumni in journalism. The tradition continues this year with special awards recognizing media professionals who have demonstrated excellence, integrity, and impact in their work.
