Ndejje University continues to shine as a beacon of excellence in higher education and innovation.
On 8th January 2025, the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) awarded four outstanding Young Engineering Innovators, among whom was Mr. Kugonza Mpoza, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Ndejje University. Each innovator received UGX 5,000,000 to support the development of their innovations into Most Viable Products (MVPs).
This recognition underscores Ndejje University’s commitment to producing graduates who contribute meaningfully to solving real-world challenges through innovation and professionalism. Mr. Mpoza’s achievement reflects the university’s dedication to nurturing engineering talent and fostering creativity among its students.
The awards ceremony, organized by UIPE, celebrated these young visionaries under the Royal Academy of Engineering’s GCRF Africa Catalyst Phase 5 Project. This initiative, titled “Strengthening the Institutional Framework of UIPE to Advance the Contribution of Engineering Professionals to the Innovation Value Chain in Uganda,” highlights the importance of supporting young innovators in scaling their projects to create impactful solutions.
In addition to Mr. Mpoza, the other awardees were:
- Mr. Ssebagala Ivan, an MSc graduate in Materials Engineering from Busitema University.
- Mr. Murungi Emanuel, a graduate of Civil and Environmental Engineering from Uganda Christian University.
- Mr. Emanuel Nuwagaba, a graduate of Civil Engineering from Kabale University.
The contract signing marked the beginning of a new chapter for these innovators, as they prepare to advance their projects with the support of the UIPE and its partners.
At Ndejje University, the Department of Engineering continues to excel under the leadership of esteemed professionals, including Eng. Ntale and Eng. Tiboti. Their guidance and dedication have positioned the university as a leader in engineering education and innovation.
