Ndejje University was represented at the RUFORUM Capacity Building Workshop held at Imperial Botanical Hotel from August 11th to 23rd, 2025. The workshop brought together member universities of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) from across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The training, code-named “Enhancement of University Post-Docs Skills in Proposal Development and Grants Management,” focused on strengthening institutional capacity in proposal writing, project planning, and implementation.
Focus of the Workshop
The workshop primarily targeted the upcoming European Union (EU) Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2025 Call for Proposals and the EU Horizon 2025 Call for Proposals. The initiative seeks to improve universities’ capacity for resource mobilization while aligning with RUFORUM’s mission of transforming higher agricultural education and advancing science, technology, and innovation to build resilient agri-food systems in Africa.
Ndejje University’s Representation
Ndejje University was represented by Dr. David Talengera and Dr. Leonard Ninsheka from the Faculty of Environment and Agricultural Sciences.
Currently, the university is finalizing a grant agreement under the EU ERASMUS Strand 1 scheme for capacity building of Higher Education Institutions. In addition, Ndejje University has been selected to lead a consortium of five African universities and one European university in developing a proposal under the EU Gateway Flagship Area of Climate and Energy.

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) is a consortium of 175 universities operating in 40 African countries. Its mandate is to transform higher agricultural education and spearhead scientific, technological, and innovative solutions for sustainable agri-food systems. RUFORUM has successfully implemented development projects, established business enterprises, developed innovative curricula, and trained researchers at both Master’s and PhD levels.
