Ndejje University proudly participated in the ongoing Agricultural Education Show in Jinja, a national platform bringing together institutions to showcase innovations, research, and practical solutions in agriculture and education. The university’s presence at the event reflects its commitment to promoting sustainable development through applied learning and community engagement.
Led by Dr. PrimeRose Nakazibwe, the Faculty of Agriculture team has been fully immersed in the week-long event, representing the University with commendable enthusiasm, creativity, and resilience.
Showcasing Innovation and Research
During the exhibition, Ndejje University showcased five impactful projects:
- An Alternative Protein Source
- A Fish Farming Guide Manual
- A Toilet and Poultry Disinfectant
- An Organic Weed Control Solution
- Two well-curated research posters
These contributions demonstrated the University’s ongoing efforts to translate classroom knowledge into real-world solutions, particularly in the areas of environmental health, food security, and sustainable farming.
Learning from the Agricultural Community
The exhibition offered a learning experience for all participants. Institutions at all levels—from primary to tertiary—exhibited high levels of innovation, some with ready-for-market products. The display of practical, income-generating innovations reinforced the importance of commercializing research and encouraged the university to accelerate its own technology transfer and incubation strategies.
The neighboring secondary institutions were also present with their market-ready products, raising the bar for future participation. This inspired a reflection on how Universities can better harness their internal capacities, particularly in engineering and agriculture, to move prototypes beyond the lab and into the market.
Institutional Teamwork and Dedication
The University’s successful presence was made possible through the dedication and teamwork of its staff and students. The team worked diligently to prepare exhibition materials, brand the university’s booth, and provide engaging presentations to guests, visitors, and students from across the country.
One of the most notable contributions came from a student volunteer who had previously interned with the organizing body. Their knowledge of the setup and logistics ensured that the university’s team received proper support and representation throughout the event.
A Green Vision for the Future
The exhibition also sparked renewed interest in transforming the University’s vast land into model demonstration gardens, similar to those seen at the showgrounds. Such spaces would not only support training in rural agricultural practices but also help define the university as a hub of agricultural excellence and innovation.
There is also a renewed push to invest in high-quality seedling production for community-based agriculture, positioning the university to support local farming efforts and contribute to national food systems.
Looking Ahead
As preparations begin for the upcoming Graduation Exhibition, the Faculty of Agriculture is set to take the lead, with a vision of presenting a greener, more innovative Ndejje University. Plans are underway to ensure every guest leaves with a deep appreciation for the university’s contributions to research, agriculture, and community development.
