We are thrilled to announce that our faculty member Roice Bwambale Kalengyo, a deputy coordinator at the Water Research and Development Centre and acting head of research and innovation at Ndejje University’s Faculty of Engineering and Survey, has been named one of nine Research Laureates by the African Research and Innovation Hub (ARIH). This prestigious award, established by the Afreximbank, recognizes and supports top researchers and innovators across Africa.
A passionate advocate for environmental sustainability, Kalengyo’s work focuses on enabling research in critical areas in Africa that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His expertise is already making a tangible impact; a project component developed by one of his student innovators, guided by Kalengyo and Eng Dr. Henry K.Ntale, secured an award from the Ministry of Water and Environment during the annual Water Week 2025.
Kalengyo was selected from a pool of 200 competitors for the ARIH award, an incredible achievement that was announced at the 2025 Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Algeria. During the AFREXIM bank-sponsored international exhibition, he presented a project on water efficiency and agroecological improvement, highlighting the impactful work of the Water Research and Development Centre.
This recognition on both a national and international level celebrates Kalengyo’s dedication to advancing environmental solutions and his commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators at Ndejje University.
