Ndejje University has taken a major step forward in strengthening transparency and efficiency in student governance with the official launch of the NDU Digital Voting System, a secure online election platform developed by the Directorate of Computing and Information Technology Services (DCITS) under the SF&MIS team led by Mr. Joshua Ssenyange, Acting Team Leader.
The system was launched earlier today by the Directorate of ICT, marking a significant milestone in the University’s continued commitment to leveraging technology to improve institutional processes and student participation.
The NDU Voting System is designed to provide a secure, reliable, and user-friendly digital environment for conducting student elections. It supports structured voting at both University-wide and faculty levels, while enabling real-time tracking of election results, thereby improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency throughout the electoral process.
To use the system, students must meet specific eligibility requirements. Each voter must have a valid University registration number and an active University email address. These credentials are required to authenticate identity and ensure that each student votes only once.
The implementation is being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students, which will oversee voter verification and registration. A dedicated registration window will be opened during which students must register through the Dean’s Office to confirm their voting eligibility. Students are advised to complete this verification process within the first month of the registration period to avoid missing the opportunity to participate in the elections.
Students can check their eligibility status through the online portal provided by the University voting platform. Once verified, eligible students will be able to securely cast their votes electronically for their preferred candidates.
To maintain fairness and structural order in representation, the system is configured so that students can only vote for candidates contesting at their respective campuses. This ensures that each campus electorate participates only in races relevant to them.
University ICT officials noted that the platform incorporates security and audit features that protect voter integrity while allowing authorized administrators to monitor turnout and results in real time. The digital approach is also expected to reduce logistical costs, minimize errors, and speed up result declaration compared to traditional paper-based voting.
The launch of the NDU Digital Voting System reflects Ndejje University’s broader digital transformation agenda and its dedication to promoting inclusive, transparent, and technology-driven student governance. The initiative positions the University among forward-looking institutions adopting secure digital solutions to strengthen democratic participation within the academic community.
