Kampala, Uganda — Ndejje University Kampala Campus welcomed the University Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Dr. Hannington Mutebi, for a pastoral visit and the induction of Year One students, marking a day of faith, reflection, renewed purpose and new beginnings.
The visit was guided by the scripture from Isaiah 43:18–19: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Engagement with Student Leaders
The Chancellor’s visit began with an interactive engagement with student leaders at the Kampala Campus. The session was led by the Kampala Campus Guild President, Ms. Justine Nsiimire, in the presence of the Chaplain, Rev. Damalie Nalubwama, and Deputy Chaplain, Rev. Juliet Kansiime.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the University leadership and student representatives to interact, reflect on the student experience and reinforce the importance of Christian values, leadership and responsible service within the University community.
Year One Student Induction Service
During the induction service, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, Dr. Christopher Samuel Mayanja, represented the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Canon Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja, and welcomed the new students to the Ndejje University family.
The induction service provided the newly admitted students with an opportunity to begin their university journey with spiritual guidance, encouragement and a renewed sense of purpose.
Preaching under the theme “Focusing on a New Thing,” the Chancellor encouraged the students to embrace the season they are in and to look ahead with faith and determination.
He urged the students to let go of past failures, disappointments and experiences that could hinder their progress, while encouraging them to nurture their relationship with God and make the most of the opportunities presented to them at university.
“You are blessed to be at University—maximise the opportunity.”
The Chancellor’s message emphasised the importance of recognising university education as an opportunity for personal, academic and spiritual growth.
Encouragement to University Staff
The pastoral visit also included an engagement with University staff, during which the Chancellor conveyed greetings from the Board of Trustees.
He encouraged staff to uphold the Christian values upon which Ndejje University is founded and to remain committed to working together for the common good of the University and the wider community.
He further called upon members of the Ndejje University community to reflect on their conduct, move away from lifestyles that undermine Christian values and remain committed to integrity, unity, service and transformation.

A Call to New Beginnings
The pastoral visit and student induction served as a reminder that every new season presents an opportunity for growth, renewal and transformation.
For the Year One students, the occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in their academic journey at Ndejje University. Through the Chancellor’s message, students were encouraged to focus on the opportunities ahead, remain grounded in their faith and make meaningful use of their university experience.
The day concluded with a shared commitment to new beginnings, renewed purpose and transformation, as Ndejje University Kampala Campus continues to nurture students through holistic Christian education, academic excellence and service to society.
