Counsellor's Corner: Emotional Control
Emotional Control
Be slow to speak even when you feel like exploding. Take a deep breath through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Walk away for a few minutes to calm down. Get someone to talk to, pick a phone and call a friend and talk about past good memories, take a walk. Never make a decision out of anger. You may say a word/words or do an action whose impact you can’t undo. Silence is not cowardice, it is a sign of emotional maturity and emotional intelligence.
When you cool down and you are calm, think through the scenario and get the right approach with a sense of maturity and communicate your disappointment and pain, resolve the conflict.
Love you all
Stay blessed.
