Ndejje University—Academic Year 2025/2026
Supported by the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) and Mastercard Foundation
Background
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing the FAWE–Mastercard Foundation Program across ten Sub-Saharan African countries: Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Senegal, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe (2024–2030).
This Phase II initiative builds on the success of the Higher Education Access Program (HEAP) and targets 1,800 underrepresented youth in Uganda — 80% female and 20% male — including refugees and persons with disabilities, aged 15 to 25 years, from socially and economically marginalized communities.
The program promotes equitable access to higher education through two pathways:
- Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
- Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC)
About the HEAC Program
The Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC) Program is a one-year bridging course designed to enable students who do not meet the UACE entry requirements or equivalent to access university education. It specifically targets:
- Senior Six (S.6) leavers who did not attain the required UACE grades.
- Students with foreign secondary school qualifications not equivalent to UACE.
Upon successful completion, students become eligible for direct admission into STEM-related undergraduate degree programs.
