On the 4th of September, the Ndejje University community gathered once again for the weekly Wednesday Community Hour, a cherished time of fellowship and spiritual reflection led by Pastor Isaac Ssenyonjo. The theme of the session centered on the divine call to bear fruit, as exemplified in various biblical teachings and stories.

Pastor Isaac drew inspiration from the book of Genesis, focusing on Genesis 1:20-22 (NIV), which describes God’s command for creation to teem with life: “And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.’” Through this passage, Pastor Isaac emphasized that just as God blessed the creatures of the earth to be fruitful and multiply, so too has He empowered us to be fruitful in our endeavors.
The session featured a moving testimony by Prossy Mulinde, who shared how she has experienced God’s empowerment to bear lasting fruit in her life. Drawing from John 15:16 (NIV), “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last,” Prossy reminded everyone that we have all been chosen and appointed by God to fulfill a unique purpose. There are no excuses for not bearing fruit when we are empowered by the Creator.
Pastor Isaac then took the congregation through the stories of notable biblical figures who produced fruit in their lives:
- King David: A man after God’s own heart, David was expected to excel in multiple roles. As a king, he led his people with wisdom and courage; as a musician, he composed psalms that continue to inspire; and as a warrior, he fought valiantly to protect his nation, fulfilling his divine calling in every aspect (1 Kings 10:10).
- Samson: A judge of Israel, Samson’s life, as narrated in the book of Judges (Judges 13, Judges 16:20, Judges 16:30), showcased both strength and vulnerability. Though his journey was marked by trials, Samson ultimately fulfilled his purpose, demonstrating that even flawed vessels can bear fruit when aligned with God’s plan.
- Jesus Christ: Above all, the life of Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of fruitfulness. As He declared, He came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. His ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection opened the way for humanity to experience spiritual fruitfulness and eternal life.

The Community Hour concluded with a reminder that each one of us is uniquely chosen and empowered to bear fruit, not only for ourselves but for the greater good of all. Pastor Isaac encouraged everyone to reflect on their own lives and consider how they can produce fruit that will last, in alignment with God’s purpose.
